About Us

Bophelo100 is a health and financial wellness service provider, inspired by contributing to improving employees and/or customers lives from challenges ranging from access to quality healthcare, financial wellness, and holistic estate planning.  It was founded by a management team with extensive experience in human resources, franchise management, engineering, property development, facilities management, entrepreneurship and financial services.  This expertise has been achieved at senior management level from blue chip companies in motor, mining, telecoms, construction, retail, and petroleum industries.

Some of the critical aspects in a worker’s (breadwinner) life are earning a living wage, healthcare, healthy finances (avoid debt trap), being buried with dignity, leave the family with enough funds to live above the poverty line, create generational wealth and to enjoy hard-earned income whilst alive.  These are not easy to achieve given that:

  • South Africa’s public healthcare system has constraints which have necessitated the government to consider a National Health Insurance scheme to create access to quality healthcare for all citizens. Only about 15% of South Africans are covered by medical aid schemes. in the low-income groups, about 71.5% households would first consult public clinics and hospitals for healthcare (Stats SA 2019).
  • In 2021, the Association for Savings and Investments SA, indicated that over 42% of individuals have funeral policies in South Africa. Though the numbers show a staggering decline from the 55% of individuals who had funeral policies in 2020, however that remains an extremely high number. This confirms that most South Africans see the need to plan for their funeral so that they are buried with dignity.
  • Statistics from the Master of the High court show that about 85% of South Africans die without a Will. This then leads to many South Africans, including young children and families left destitute and in difficult financial situations, contributing to even more poverty.
  • There is approximately R50 billion of pension funds that remain unclaimed, most of these unclaimed benefits are attributed to the lack of knowledge by the relevant beneficiaries that they should be claiming these funds, in addition to poor planning by the bread winner.
